Meet Haley

BIOGRAPHY

One aspect that has always attracted me to photography is the ability to stop time, capture a moment. For me, the split-second decision to click the shutter,  make a photograph and share that with others is powerful and rewarding.

Thank you so much for taking an interest in my love of photography and exploring my website. Let me fully introduce myself. My name is Haley Hensley and I grew up in the very small town of Fall Branch, TN.  At the age of nine, my father bought my first camera, a Minolta 35mm film camera. I fell in love immediately.

I was so shy as a child that being behind the camera gave me something to hide behind while still exploring the world. The love only continued to grow and at the end of my high school career I decided to continue pursuing photography.

I attended Virginia Intermont College for three years . When the school closed it's doors, I continued and  graduated from Emory & Henry College with a B.A. of Photography and Digital Imaging.

My love of photography coincided with documenting life and its many moments. While studying photography, I also focused on Cultural Heritage Studies.

I began building my portfolio by working closely with The Birthplace of Country Music Alliance and Museum, working with several local photographers, and building my own business in weddings, engagement and family photographs.

In 2019, I met my husband and moved to Panama City Beach, FL. While in Florida, I expanded my portfolio in family portraits, weddings, commercial, and  real estate photography. We lived there three years and decided we missed the mountain air.

Haley Hensley Photography is now based in Nickelsville,VA. We are enjoying the outdoors with our two Great Danes and family. I would love to go on an adventure and capture some memories together!

How I Pose

First, don't think you have to be a model to have amazing looking photos. That is so not true! Getting in front of a camera can be intimidatting and stressful. I should know, I hate having my photo taken! My style of posing though is very natural and fun. I will help you along and adjust anything that needs to be, but it's about being yourself and having fun. Everyone can tell when you are smiling for the camera and when you are laughing and smiling for you. I want the latter.

When we start a session, I'll give you a pep talk that will give you an understanding and expectations of what the session is going to look like! That's a great way to start because it'll ease your nerves and will give you an idea of how it'll all play out. I'll start the session with some easy prompts. You won't even realize I am photographing you! As you get more comfortable, we will dial up the fun knob. At the end of the session, there is a chance we may all be exhausted from laughing (and me rolling around on the ground), but I promise, it will be worth it!

Always feel comfortable to ask me a question! Questions are never dumb and I'm here to help guide you and make you feel as comfortable as possible!
